Ctenanthe burle-marxii 'Amagris' (Fishbone Prayer Plant)- 6" Deco pot

$45.00
SOLD OUT
You will receive the plant in the photos / video. A dramatic houseplant that only takes up a little room. Oval, glossy leaves have purple undersides and dark green veins. Not only does it provide a bright spot with it's interesting leaves, it entertains also! The leaves respond to night by moving upward. As day approaches, they move downward. This is termed a nyctinastic response. They've yet to figure out why they do this, one theory is to conserve water. I like and grow this variety because it's less prone to leaf-edge burning than many Ctenanthe can be. It prefers extra humidity and indirect light but is forgiving and willing to grow once you correct its conditions. Spreads by rhizomes and only reaches about 8" tall and wide. Great in a terrarium. A beautiful little gem!
